I'm going to purchase a PowerPod to work along with my camcorder. My *primary* use will be Live Streaming Video Chat. I have a few questions for you.

(1) Do you know how well TrackerCam will work with the Panasonic PV-DV953? It's a $1000 camera with excellent video quality. I'm sure it has all the necessary features, but do not know how compatible it might be.

(2) Do you have a particular Video Capture card recommendation? I know some of the online webcam communities suggest cards by Winnov or Osprey, but since I'll be using TrackerCam I don't know what would be best. For live video chat...what card would you suggest?

(3) Does the TrackerCam software support Video/Audio *and* Text chat? I love the fact that it can be embedded in a webpage, but I'm not clear on whether or not it supports text chat.

Thanks so much for your time . TrackerCam looks like a revolutionary product!

That is an excellent camera. It's about 2lbs without the battery and should work well with the PowerPod. It has firewire so you don't need a capture card unless you want more control over the digitization process, like color balance and gain. Most people just get the digital video from the camera with firewire. If your computer doesn't have firewire, you should be able to get a PCI firewire card for $30. TrackerCam Software is designed to handle that. Most firewire cards also come with some video editing software that also takes firewire in.

Strictly speaking, TrackerCam doesn't do video streaming - it does jpeg pull. This can be with an embedded Java applet or Javascript. If the person on the other end also has TrackerCam Software, then you both get live video/audio/text/file transfer.

Strictly speaking we do not compete with the companies making video streaming software. We are compatible with them in the sense that we share the video from your camcorder with other applications using the TrackerCam Capture driver or the new standalone DVdriver (see www.trackercam.com). For example, you start DVdriver and select Microsoft DV camcorder (firewire) as the video source. Then you start NetMeeting or Windows Media Encoder or other streaming software and select DVdriver as the source. You can stream to several places at the same time, like MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, and NetMeeting. You can control pan/tilt/zoom or you can let the remote viewer control those through DVdriver or TrackerCam Software.

If you prefer to use a capture card, we recommend the Hauppauge WinTV-GO. It's not expensive, but it does a great job and works well with DVdriver and TrackerCam.
